If you’ve been affected by floods, we understand that tax is not your number one priority, however we encourage you to lodge when you can.
We have a range of support options available to help you if you’re struggling to meet your tax obligations.
Eastern floods 2022
If you’ve been affected by the floods from September to November 2022 and are struggling, we’re here to help and provide support.
Taxpayers and agents in an Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) declared LGAExternal Link, don’t need to request a deferral for the following obligations:
- individual income tax returns with an original due date of 31 October 2022, if you lodge by 31 January 2023
- monthly BAS with an original due date of 21 October 2022, 21 November 2022 and 21 December 2022, if you lodge by 18 February 2023
- quarterly BAS with an original due date of 28 October 2022 and 25 November 2022, if you lodge by 18 February 2023.
You won’t be penalised for lodging these obligations by the later date. If you already have a deferral, it will remain in place.
Significant global entities or large businesses who require assistance in relation to lodgment due dates as a result of the floods, can contact us to work through any concerns.
If you haven’t been directly impacted by the floods but need more time to lodge, contact us or your tax professional as soon as possible to discuss your circumstances.
The payment due date for your obligations has not changed. General interest charge (GIC) will apply if payment is not made by the original payment due date.
If you are not able to pay by the due date, you should contact us to discuss payment options and request a remission of general interest charge (GIC). We will take an empathetic approach to your situation.
